In an effort to get back into journalling more regularly (and because I don't have a lot of work on at the min) here I am. yay.

So the reason I don't have much work on at the min is because I've just come to the end of designing the book I have been working on for the last few months. It turned out longer than I was hoping for, but it can't be helped, and in the end I needed one extra sig (16 pages) than the last one, making it 256 instead of my goal of 240. oh well. ::shrug::

So I went out last night for tea with Lee & Lyd, Trev & Paula, which is always a great laugh. One good thing which has come out of me not being able to go to Japan this year is that I've got some money which I can now spend on getting some bike gear. Lee, Trev and I are going to the Peterborough Showground, on 18 May for the BMF show. Which I'm really looking forward to. I wanna get a helmet, and a jacket, and boots, and bits and pieces, so that I'm all set for getting my bike licence. Gotta sort out my theory test next, then I'm gonna price up access courses. There's a bike school just along the estate where I work which does them, so i need to give them a call. I'll have to wait till at least after October, because I'm taking my holiday when Lyd goes on maternity leave now. So will probably aim to do it this time next year - don't really wanna be learning to ride a bike in the winter, don't fancy it at all!

Well that's about it for now.

hey hey Apr. 7th, 2008 @ 10:36 am
well, it's been a while hasn't it?!

::waves at [info]wellinghall::

So I start off with some sad news. I only start with this as it's just happened this morning, and I'm still kinda working my way through it. I was all set and ready to go to see my friend Nicole in Okinawa in August, and have been really really looking forward to it. (yeah, seriously - had ear-marked what I wanted to do, have been putting spending money aside every month, just really really excited), but this morning Nicole found out that she wont be able to be around for it. She's got a work conference for one of the two weeks, and can't take any time off work for the other. I don't really want to go all that way (and it's not a small amount of money either) just to be on my own for two weeks. It's only gonna make me miserable that I have no one to 'owh look at that' with. So, Japan is off. and I'm sad. I quietly considering a city break or something, because I really do want to have a holiday [anyone fancy a stray?!]. or else I could use the money I was going to spend on a holiday and get my bike licence. We shall see.

Right, well, enough of that.

On a much happier note - and as I haven't reported it yet - I'm going to be aunty abigail in September! (wahoo) My beloved sis (and best mate in the whole wide world) is beautifully preggers, and the whole family has never been happier. I've been squirrelling stuff for a few months now, and it's just so cool!

In other new news - my garden is finally looking good!! I had some time off over Easter, so my mate Trev came around to help with the garden (in exchange for pavlova, which I think he's secretly addicted to). So we ripped out all the dead plants, manky grass, old crap, horrid pots (etc etc etc) and gravelled the top bit, took the crap to the tip, and spruced up the yard. It looks a million times better - so when the weather is good, everyone is welcome around for tea and cakes and fraps in the in garden! yay!!

and, that's about it for now.....

we'll see how long it takes me to update again!

hey hey Dec. 5th, 2007 @ 04:27 pm
Well this week has been totally unproductive so far, sometimes I just can't for the life of me get my head into gear!

So I joined up on Gaia (heard someone talking about it on one of the anime forums I'm on), and have been merrily wasting my time chatting, and doing jigsaw puzzles and such. I feel like a 12 year old again! YaY!

Is anyone else on there? because as it's only my 2nd day - I don't really have any friends (awwwhhhhhh) :o)

Well, in other news today....... no, actually that's pretty much it. Timewasters unite.

Well, it's true – I am still alive and well, and I gotta say, not a lot has changed for in the last few months of not journaling. (tut tut tut, yeah I know)

It's been a busy old time though, I'm still at the press (bah), but the freelance thing is going along nicely - slowly at the moment, but to be honest I'm so busy with re:vive (which has now got sparkly new website, and my other job - I'm kinda glad rds is going slow for now. Once my current clients are all done with - I'll see about advertising a bit more.

So in summary of the last little while - here goes
• house is still standing, despite more trouble with a leaking bath.
• work (Stanborough Press & Bird & co) are going well. Bird has now requested my design services - so this may end up being my first corporate gig - we shall see.
• cats are all OK - Corduroy got run over a few months ago, he fractured his pelvis in 3 places - which was quite traumatic, but he's back to old self again, and thankfully, has stopped trucking across the main road.
• Japanese is still on the go, although I wish wish wish I could remember more - and had someone to actually practice with. I'm doing my best though and still enjoying it, so that's the main thing!

and that's about it.

again I'm going say - will try and get back into my journal routine - but we shall see! ne?!

It's been forever since I last updated (thanks for the nudge [info]wellinghall) ;o)

All is well with me, and for once I actualy do have something to report. My family has grown! I have a new kitten, his name is Fitz, and he's just the cutest little bundle of havoc!

Here looks like this (although, I need to upload the pics I took the other day, because he's grown so much since I took these!)

So that's pretty much my most exciting news. He's 7 weeks old - some friends of mine had 4 and were trying to find homes for them, and when I saw him, well, I couldn't resist. Of course my other cats, JaiKay & Corduroy, aren't too happy about the new addition. There's been a bit of hissing and growling, but it's mainly because Fitz just wants to jump and play with them, and they want to be left alone. He's lovely though.

In other news. I joined Tokyocube yesterday, so hopefully I will be able to improve my extreemly limited Japanese, I want to actually be able to hold a conversation with someone when I go to Okinawa next year.

hmmm. what else.

Oh yes - I'm trying to build up a client base so I can go freelance! I have my online portfolio up and running, and I'm touting for business. So if anyone needs some designering -- you know where I am!

And that's pretty much it.

matane.....

......oh and I want need this watch!

So, good news folkies!

I saw my GP this morning.

She had no idea that there was a PCOS clinic in Nottingham - she was almost as excited as me to hear about it. So she went through the NHS referral procedure, and low and behold it popped up on the list!
She kept all my info that I'd printed out, so she can have proper read of it, and hopefully refer some of her other patients. So that's great. I have now got an appointment booked for the 7th June, which ain't that bad.

So. Cool!

:o)

in other news :: Dave [work colleague and all around good egg] took me down for my appointment (because my Dad has borrowed my car today), and when I'd just announced
'Cool - my appointment is booked!'
replied 'Can we all come?!' [pre-press = me and three blokes]
me: 'errr - no. You don't have a womb and stuff'
Dave: 'but I gotta womb with a view!!!'

How cool is that?!

OK, I'm done with that now.

Nothing else to report - life = teh dull at the mo.

Had a good weekend.

It was great to go down and see Jo & Chris. Had a nice stress-free drive down to Watford and back [read: loud music, empty roads, sun shining, good average speeds - and no flashing of speed cameras].

We got to see curse of the golden flower which was really good to watch, although I don't think Jo & Chris enjoyed it much. I thought it was great. Albeit the last 10 mins or so was quite hard to watch. The colours and cinematography was incredible. It shall be added to my collection when it comes out, that's for sure.

I'm quite happy at the minute because I've resisted the urge long enough damnit! and I've bought a couple of things from megagear! they are ::

&

So I'm quite happy about that. I like the fact that the £ is quite strong against the $ at the min - it makes it easier to say 'oh hang it - it's only twenty quid!'

:o)

but, that's me done for this month. remind me my pocket money's all gone ...
